UEM Sunrise announces key appointments

THE STAR. 22ND JUNE: PETALING JAYA: UEM Sunrise Bhd has announced the appointments of Datin Sri Badrunnisa Mohd Yasin Khan and Alex Yeow Wai Siaw as its new independent non-executive directors.

Christina Foo is redesignated as a senior independent director, the property developer said in a statement.

 This is following the retirements of Tan Sri Dr Azmil Khalili Khalid, Ungku Suseelawati Ungku Omar and Datin Teh Ija Mohd Jalil at the conclusion of the group’s 13th AGM held yesterday, it added.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Azmil, Ungku Suseelawati and Teh Ija for their leadership, contribution and counsel to the board.

“At the same time, we welcome Badrunnisa and Yeow to the board. We are confident that they will provide much value and strategic input, given their combined experience in their respective fields,” said UEM Sunrise chairman Datuk Noorazman Abd Aziz.

Yeow, 56, has held significant professional and management positions across a wide spectrum of industries.

He is currently the group CEO of Star Media Group Bhd, a position held since March 2021.

He started his career as a consultant with McKinsey & Co where he served various corporate clients as well as government-linked companies in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.

He later held numerous top management positions including group chief executive officer and executive director of Tropicana Corp Bhd, executive director of Hafary Holdings Ltd and managing director and executive director of Guocoland (M) Bhd, and executive director of Tower Real Estate Investment Trust.

Badrunnisa, 61, has more than 30 years of working experience in information technology and human resources within the oil and gas and telecommunications industries.

She began her career with Shell in Malaysia and served for 25 years, and subsequently joined Telekom Malaysia Bhd as its general manager for leadership development and talent management.
