FREE MALAYSIA TODAY. 3RD APRIL: In this day and age, it is increasingly difficult to find a decent-sized home with a reasonable price point. So, unless you’re able to afford a big house or apartment, you might need to get creative to avoid your home looking like a storeroom.
Here are some interior-decor tips to make your place of residence look more spacious without actually expanding your property.
1. Put up tall curtains
This is one of the easiest ways to enlarge your space. Hanging full-length curtains above windows creates the illusion of a higher ceiling, and makes the room look more cozy and/or luxurious, too.
If your home has lots of windows with plenty of natural light, it’s highly recommended you paint your walls in light colours, such as white, beige, or even light grey. These shades will reflect the light from outdoors and make the space look even bigger.
Conversely, if your room gets little to no natural light, it’s better to go for darker colours such as soft black, dark grey, or navy blue. This will create a more intimate feel.
3. Install mirrors
Situate them directly across from windows or doorways to make your space appear twice as large. But, if you’re a feng shui practitioner, make sure this doesn’t go against the principles.
4. Increase storage
Random clutter is usually what makes your space feel cramped. Invest in furniture that can increase storage, such as drawers, shelves and even chairs with compartments.
Now you have more space and aesthetically pleasing furnishing!
