DAILY EXPRESS. 19TH JULY: The distribution of Hardcore Poor Housing Project (PPRT) houses in each area depends on the federal Rural Development Ministry’s allocation quota.

State Rural Development Assistant Minister Harun Durabi said the Ministry, however, is aware that Sabah needs a lot of such houses.

“The Ministry has made five-year projections to make it easier for us to apply for more allocations from the federal Rural Development Ministry,” he said in a reply to a supplementary question by Sindumin Assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob.

“These projections are submitted by the respective district offices, and hopefully it can be submitted earlier so that we also ask for more allocations to cater to the needs of Sabah.”

Earlier, to Yusof’s original question, Harun said eight PPRT houses were built in Sipitang in 2020, while another three were built last year.

“As for this year, four newly-built PPRT units and 12 repaired PPRT units have been allocated for Sipitang,” he said.

He added that a list of 94 proposed PPRT house recipients in Sipitang had been submitted to the Ministry.
