NEW STRAITS TIMES. 22ND DECEMBER: Online real estate & property platform, iProperty, revealed that Ipoh leads the company’s annual top 10 most searched areas among property seekers in Malaysia.
19.5 per cent of searches between Jan and Nov highlighted the city as an emerging location, beating prime locations such as Petaling Jaya, Cheras and Shah Alam for homebuyers in Malaysia.
Following this, the state government will obtain more detailed information on the housing segment that has the highest demand to enable specific strategies to be formulated.
State Housing and Local Government committee chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching shared that the high demand for houses provides an opportunity for the housing industry in Perak to grow in line with post-pandemic economic recovery.
“The state government through Perak Housing and Property Board (LPHP) also gives some initiative to housing developers who build low and moderate cost housing in Perak,” said the Teja assemblyman in a debate session honouring the commandments of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at the Perak State Legislative Assembly at Bangunan Perak Darul Rizduan here, today.
iProperty in the statement said that affordability and work flexibility could be the primary drivers for more property seekers looking for houses outside of Klang Valley.
Other new entrants which made it into the search list include Kuching (ranked sixth with 7.6 per cent), followed by Port Dickson (ranked seventh with 7.4 per cent) and Seremban (ranked 10th with 6.4 per cent).
