SCIB unit terminates civil servant housing job in Perak due to non-progress

NEW STRAITS TIMES. 6TH JULY: Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd’s (SCIB) unit has terminated a job to build housing for civil servants from Awana JV Suria Saga Sdn (AJVS), due to non progress.

AJVS appointed SCIB’s unit SCIB Properties Sdn. Bhd. as the main contractor for the project on September 22, 2023.

According to its filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities, SCIB’s unit SCIB Properties Sdn Bhd on July 6, 2023 signed a settlement agreement with AJVS to mutually terminate the contract to build 345 units of single storey affordable terrace houses; 455 units of double storey affordable terrace houses and 28 units of double storey shop lots in Muallim, Perak.

Under the agreement, a RM18.7 million advance made to AJVS from SCIB Properties will become a debt to be paid back to the company.

The outstanding balances from the debt will be up for impairment review in the next reporting quarter.
